Musco Fund Development Programme for Girls Cricket Musco Lighting who installed a World-Class floodlighting system at Hampshire County Cricket Club's Rose Bowl earlier this year, have pleasure in supporting a three year coaching programme set up by The Hampshire Cricket Board to encourage the development of girls cricket at grassroots level. Interest in cricket has never been higher; the Ashes Victory in 2005 by both the men and women has resulted in a huge rise in participation in the game within the UK. This interest should increase further following the appointment of Women's Regional Cricket Managers, who are charged with working with County Boards to help develp new clubs, form sustainable girls' leagues and introduce new girls to the sport at a local level. Hampshire Cricket Board in partnership with Musco Lighting is now running a coaching programme aimed at increasing girl's participation across Hampshire and helping to form new girl's junior sections in cricket clubs. Four community coaches will between them deliver over 250 hours of coaching in schools across the county. As a result girls will be given the opportunity to attend specialist-coaching sessions held over 6 weeks. The aim behind the scheme is to acquire girls from the participating schools to help for girl's junior sections within existing cricket clubs. In 2007 Cove, Portsmouth and Southsea, Fair Oak and New Milton cricket clubs hope to benefit from around 15-20 new girls each. Currently the programme is aimed at two age groups; under 13's and under 11's, however an under 15's programme will be developed in the near future.
