Musco Lights Up Cricket World Cup Venues The Cricket World Cup is the latest prestigious event to utilise Musco Lighting's World Class sports floodlighting. Previous experience when installing permanent lighting to major cricket grounds in the UK, India and Sri Lanka highlighted the scope and expertise of the company. Furthermore their unique Light-Structure Green™ system allowed for simple, trouble free installation by the client. Both the Beausejour and 3W's stadium are covered by Musco's industry leading 10-year warranty eliminating the maintenance of the system, including replacement lamps, for a period of 10 years. Beausejour Stadium, St Lucia, was the first cricket arena in the Caribbean to install floodlights. The installation took place in May 2006 and included six 40m high lighting columns with a total of 232 fixtures, creating 2000 lux on the wicket as required for televised viewing. Beausejour hosted the Group C matches where New Zealand and England took the top two positions in the group. The 3W's Oval Stadium, Bridgetown, is home to The University of West Indies. Musco's energy efficient system was installed in June 2006 as part of the redevelopment of the ground to meet ICC standards for international cricket. The local town planning authority were concerned about light spill onto campus buildings, Musco were able to overcome their concerns by utilising Light-Structure Green technology, resulting in a reduction of 50% in spill light and significant reductions in energy consumption. The stadium hosted four warm-up matches for the World Cup between the 5th and 9th March. After the World Cup the 3W's Oval will be a lasting legacy to the University and is hoped will encourage the development of Cricket at youth level. The World Cup tournament is televised in over 200 countries to a viewing audience estimated at two billion. Thousands of tourists are expected to visit, highlighting the interest in International cricket.
