Musco Lighting Witness Benefits of Grassroots Cricket Coaching programme stimulates development of grassroots level girls cricket Musco Lighting Europe are assisting the Hampshire Cricket Board in support of their three year coaching programme, set up to stimulate the development of girls cricket at grassroots level. Jessica Robertson, Business Development Executive for Musco, visited one of the coaching sessions held in the North Hampshire District and was most encouraged by the skill and enthusiasm witnessed. The primary focus of the board is the development of suitable indoor facilities and hiring of professional coaches for the winter coaching season. At the end of the winter season each girl is then signed up to a local club, where girls teams are becoming a key initiative. Many of the girls involved within this scheme have interests in cricket through the influence of family members, or simply because they live near a ground. However many girls had never previously thought about playing cricket. Such a chance would not previously have been given to them, as the sport is no longer played in many of their schools. Clive Surry commented “The support of Musco Lighting Europe has allowed the Hampshire Cricket Board to initiate a programme which leads the way in girls development in this country. We are delighted to be associated with a company which has installed world-class floodlights at the Rose Bowl”. Clive continued “By 2009 we hope to have developed cricket at district level for girls at U10, U12 and U15 age groups. This will see a significant increase in the number of clubs with girl's junior sections and in turn help improve further the development of girls representing Hamphire”. Musco are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project and are glad to be able to assist with the development of the sport at such a crucial level. The girl's passion and commitment is clear to see, and the work of the community coaches is already evident at the completion of this first year.
