Musco Showlight™ for 02 Arena Musco Lighting are proud to announce that they will be providing the sports event lighting for the 02 Arena formally known as the Millennium Dome. Musco will install its exclusive ShowLight™ system featuring instant off/on capability, superior glare controls and theatrical lighting flexibility features. In May 2005, AEG announced that it had joined forces with 02 to help transform the former Millennium Dome and the surrounding area into the UK's most exciting and technically advanced music, sport and entertainment destination. The facility is due to be opened in April 07. The ShowLight system is the perfect complement to Musco's highly energy efficient professional lighting system and will assist the 26,000-capacity indoor arena to host up to 150 music, entertainment and sports events in its first year. Combined with Musco's patented photometric technologies, the ShowLight system is the benchmark for instant off/on lighting capabilities and allows near instantaneous blackout of the event lighting for theatrical elements and return to full broadcast light levels in less than 2 seconds. The arena will exceed the highest international standards for a range of sports and indoor events, including boxing, gymnastics, figure-skating and tennis. The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2009 will be held at The 02. As the world's most prestigious gymnastics championships, the six day event is expected to attract nearly 1000 participants from more than 100 countries for which an audience of 16,560 can be accommodated each day.
